A Christmas Carol has been done so many times. There have been countless plays and many movies based off of the story. Why do they keep remaking it? Because it always works. This story has been done so many times and it’s always good.

The original book by Charles Dickens, is perhaps the most timeless story of all time. No other book has had so many successful adaptations. It speaks wonders for the story if you can see the same plot over and over again and still be entertained. The story is so classic that I can’t believe there’s anyone over the age of 3 who hasn’t seen or read some form of this story.

There are so many versions and some are obviously better than others. At the very least, they at least have heart and give a great Christmassy feeling. I believe the latest big budget film of this source material is the 2009 version starring Jim Carrey as Scrooge. I didn’t think this would work, in fact it shouldn’t have worked. I wanted to not like this movie, but the story is just so strong and classic that I had to give in to it.

I remember watching many versions of this story. I’ve seen animated ones like the Mr. Magoo and Looney Tunes versions, but I think my favorite version of A Christmas Carol would have to be The Muppet Christmas Carol. This version just have everything. I think Michael Cain is the best Scrooge, plus it’s the Muppets. You know it’s made with a good heart.

It’s impossible to do this story badly. A Christmas Carol will continue to be made over and over again, and with any story other than A Christmas Carol I would consider this a bad thing.
